July's speaker is Gyleen Fitzgerald from Baltimore Maryland. At the Houston Quilt Festival in 2015 she had a one woman display of her work, and was the keynote speaker at the Oglalla Quilt Show in Dimmitt las year. Gayleen is perhaps best known for her sense of color, and due to her background in engineering, her technical design ability.
Gyleen's program will be "Making it Modern", where she will take us from traditional through contemporary to modern, exploring designs with rectangles and squares that are the building components for modern quilts. Gayleen has recently been using Polygons in her quilts, so we might see some of her newer quilts displayed.
July's workshop, by Gayleen Fitzgerald, is from her latest book "Polygon Affair-So Easy You'll Fall in Love".
It's fast, it's quick, it's geometric and it's free-style piecing with control. You'll start with the thought of having fun and being in the moment. The technique is to use the Polygon2Tool and Butterfly Seam to create a BOLD wall-hanging that shouts, "Modern" or "Contemporary".
Purchase of the Polygon2 Tool is required for this workshop. Some fabric prep must be done before the class.
