Elizabeth Arellano lives in Bonham Texas. She has been sewing since she was 5 years old and quilting for more than 25 years. She loves all things quilting. Elizabeth works on Hand Projects, Machine Projects, takes classes and attends retreats (less since opening Savvy Quilters Quilt Shop). She attended school in Los Angeles California obtaining a BS in Business Administration with a specialization in Production & Operations Management.
She worked Corporate American for long enough and retired 5 years ago. She began Savvy Quilters in Savoy Texas on State Hwy 56 in 2013. Wool Applique was the catalyst for opening Savvy Quilters. The shop supports Quilting, Wool Applique, Wool Rug Hooking, and Hand Embroidery and whatever wonderful technique or project that catches their attention. Elizabeth has been working with wool for just about 10 years. During her program she will share her wool journey, a small trunk show, and tips and tricks.
Due to the Row by Row Experience requirements of having unique patterns, Elizabeth has begun designing and writing patterns. You can see her efforts in her Row by Row Patterns. Additional Projects are in the development stages.
The project for the workshop is Elizabeth’s design. The purpose of the workshop is to teach the attendees the basic of wool applique on a small project that includes challenges for the beginner to learn to overcome. We will applique wool onto Wool & Needle Flannels. The class includes the 3 most used stitches in wool applique. The attendees need only to bring a pair of sharp scissors and their favorite floss thread collection. I will introduce them to Sulky 12 wt cotton threads that work wonderfully with wool. The goal of the project design is to be completed during the workshop. No additional UFOs in your cupboards.
