Anita Ruthenberg, member of TVQG and resident of Weatherford, Texas, loves modern, contemporary, and art quilts. She won lst prize in the Parker County Quilt Show last event with one of her unusual quilts.
As a child, down on the farm in Rantoul, Illinois, she watched her mother quilt the old-fashioned way – with cereal box and hand templates. It looked so pain-staking, Anita swore she’d never quilt!
She began quilting in the 80’s in “rotary cutter” times as the appeal of the speed caught her fancy. Then in 2000 Anita plowed in full force! Her first quilt was “Sunshine and Shadow” by Eleanor Burns. One quilt led to another and now she owns 11 machines housed in her 2nd floor quilting room and quilts for fun, not perfection. She has completely embraced the modern quilt trend and is an expert at inset circles.
Don’t miss the workshop! It’s only $10, a half day, and you’ll walk out with a new skill to use in modern, art OR traditional quilts… and it is by machine!
