Trunk Show - November 15th - Martha Lindberg

Trunk Show

Martha Lindberg

“Welcome to My Neighborhood” trunk show highlights 30-40 quilts that I have made over the years. You will see my first quilt and what I am currently working on.

I’m one of those quilters who is always looking for something new, a different technique or a quilt that I have never made before. You will see the different styles and phases I have gone through over the past 30 years. If you ever come to my house, you will see quilts hanging on every available wall, draped over chairs and couches.

I love modern quilts as much as traditional but my “latest” love is any quilt with houses on it. My quilt collection includes over 30 house quilts with many more on the UFO list. My collection includes redwork, swap block quilts, paper-pieced, appliqué, both hand and machine, and One Block Wonders. You name it, I have probably made it.

I think you will enjoy seeing and hearing about my quilt journey.

Workshop - November 14th - Wonky Dresden Neighborhood

This fun quilt is a twist on the traditional Dresden Plate block. Each blade is turned into a wonky house making this Dresden Neighborhood come to life.

Every quilt will be a little different because your creativity will come into play designing each house with a special roof, door and windows.

It will be your own unique creation! This is my most popular class!

Martha's Bio

I love to make quilts! I have been a passionate quilter for more than 30 years but have been sewing something just about all my life. During all those years I have made so many quilts, I can’t even count them.

I have been a teacher/instructor for over 35 years. I started out teaching computer classes at my office and then traveled to the surrounding states teaching these classes to our other offices. The next step was to teach computer classes at Eastfield College. This went on for 10 semesters.

During this time, I was also the leader of a quilt group at my office that made a quilt every year and raised over $5000 a year donating the money to Toys for Tots. I have taught many informal groups of quilters how to make a particular quilt, including One Block Wonder, at my home or the home of other quilters. I have lead many block swaps where the participants created beautiful quilts from their blocks. For the past few years I have done trunk shows showing my 30+ house quilts to several quilt guilds around the state. I have taught quite a few classes at the local quilt shops in Dallas and surrounding towns and continue to do so.

I have won several ribbons for my quilts at local quilt shows including a Blue Ribbon at the Dallas Quilt Show in 2012 for “My Primitive Garden”. One of my biggest honors is having one of my quilts selected as part of a special exhibit, “Text on Textiles”, at the International Quilt Festival. “Mrs. Lindberg’s Neighborhood”, traveled during 2011-2012 to all the International Quilt shows around the country. It was featured as one of the Houston quilt show entries in the QuiltMania magazine January/February 2012 edition. It received a special Award of Merit at the Dallas Quilt Show and won a third place ribbon at the NAQJA in Ohio. During the 2014-2015 International Quilt Festival, my quilt “Ruby Irish Chain” traveled with the Ruby Jubilee 40th Anniversary special exhibit.

My husband Kent and I moved to Texas from Massachusetts in 1964. We live in Mesquite.
